Spencer Chalk-Levy’s first solo exhibition at Retramp gallery explores raw emotions and dreams through both personal and collective narratives. Tension bubbles just below the surface through an intense color palette and inspired by decorative arts and folklore he tells his story. The scenes set are moody, the days not quite yet sinking into night: foreboding and ambiguous and enigmatic. He takes viewers through the twilight of his and our collective psyche; Sphinxes, Archers, Argonauts - evoking common, yet personal imagery of ancient and contemporary cultural totems.
